Montana Libertarian Party Goes on the Offensive Against Open Primaries

The Montana Libertarian Party (MTLP) passed a bylaw amendment this past weekend that now permits the MTLP to endorse any candidates regardless of party if we believe it will advance libertarian principles, even when a candidate has filed as a Libertarian in that race.

This was brought forth by our members during our recent convention, due to a real-world situation in the recent past, and passed unanimously. We find that this is a necessary possible measure, considering that open primaries in Montana have allowed anyone to run in our name, even if they do not share our political philosophy. We pride ourselves on being the party of principle, and that means putting principle over party as well.
